Find spot: Akrotiri, island of Thira (Santorini), North wall of the House of the Ladies
Date: 17th c. BCE
Clothing depicted: heanos, wrap skirt, earrings,
Museum link: Museum of Prehistoric Thera, Santorini
Lady A is a mature woman facing left.
Her heanos is yellow/orange (possibly saffron?) with red and yellow trim/bands along the shoulder, around the elbow. There is a slightly different red trim down the center front of the heanos. It has horizontal lines (horizontal pleats?) on the skirt. The hem of the heanos is parallel with the ground and is decorated with several additional bands of blue trim.
Her wrap skirt is NOT parallel with the ground. It as two tiers/flounces with fringe along the center front opening. As with Lady B, the “bumps” from the wrap skirt do not disrupt the trim(?)/band along the front edge of the wrap skirt.
She wears earrings and either a necklace OR possibly a white under tunic. She also appears to be wearing makeup (blush, lip color)
