What's on your work table?I'm working on Kyivan Rus/Slavic head gear for West Kingdom 12th night in January. A while ago my husband gifted me a pair of temple rings. They've been tucked in my jewelry box and now, finally, I have a reason to dig them out and attach them to something.So this week I created a narrow linen filet (black) which is folded and stitched and attached some table weaving to it. The table weaving was made by my good friend Edith for me when I was Princess of Cynagua (yes, I've had this in my stash for over ten years).I just need to add a couple of veils and figure out how to style them and my headgear#WorktableWednesday#WorktableWednesday ... Too many projects.. too little time.A lovely latice/woven band produced with pack idling. Pack idling generates a thicker-than-normal table woven band that is naturally double sided. What's on your worktable?In order to be good at something you first have to be bad at it. :/I have determined that stamping fabric is NOT my art. The picture here is one of the early attempts. I (of course) did not get a picture of the final attempts (which were deemed "good enough" and sent to WotW). I'll try to get a picture later this week.Things I learned: - I should not assume "I get it" about an art that I don't do and just "go for it". I should have checked in more heavily with "experts" rather than boldly rushing forth to make all the mistakes. - getting acrylic paint evenly on a wooden stamp is not as easy as getting ink on a rubber stamp. - cotton twill is easier to stamp than linen. It's just less fuzzy. - a MULTITUDE of sins can be fixed by adding more paint with a teeny tiny paintbrush - IMMEDIATELY clean off your stamp so it doesn't fill up with dried acrylic paints. Toothpicks work well for cleaning out the tiny lines.In the end I used a foam paint brush to generously and evenly dab the paint onto the stamp. Then I cleaned up the wet paint inside the stamp with a paint brush. Finally I waited for it to dry and cleaned up any excess paint by scraping it off with a fingernail (it worked as long as I hadn't scrubbed the paint into the fabric)#WorktableWednesday ...
